Dogs may have situation that they must take a medicine 😦

But if you training your pet with a good way, it’s not that difficult thing πŸ™‚

.

.

Give a snack by opening your pet’s mouth with your hand from he/she is a baby.

.

.
Then, they will feel not bad when you open their mouth.

Practice that they can take empty capsule.

.
If they feel comportable about opening their mouth, they will take empty capsule without resistance.

As a preparation for the future, use spoon even if the medicine is a capsule or tablet.

Pretty Teacup Puppy: Skinny Light? or Stocky Light Weighted?

img_8728

Recently, as tiny size teacup puppies are getting popular, more people want to have even smaller size puppies.

But, I’d like to tell them that size is not all about a puppy.

There are skinny light and stocky light type of teacup puppies.

img_8187

Almost all of those guys looking for teacup puppies are asking sellers about estimated full grown weight or current weight, but not many of them are asking about muzzle, eyes, condition of coat, and body shape.

I agree that size is the main factor that determine either it is teacup or regular puppy. However, I’d like to ask if you’d like to buy a puppy that is smaller but has long and thin body with ugly face? or buy a puppy that might be bigger but has cute stocky body with beautiful face and other features?

img_7802

My suggestion is to consider not only size but also all features including face, nose, stop angle, body shape and size, and even its pigment and coat quality.

Also, there are many teacup puppy sellers that give their customers unrealistic information about size. So do not get fooled and be clever!

Getting a puppy means having a new family member.

It will be always nice to have a tiny and beautiful puppy, but size doesn’t mean everything about your new furry baby.

Things to Know about Dog Flu

silver_poodle_dog_cold

Hello guys!

This time, I’d like to share tips for puppy cold since it is getting cold.

Its symptoms include cough, runny nose, sleep, fever, lethargy, and loss of appetite.

If flu lasts more than a week, it can turn into pneumonia, so you should take your puppy to the vet as soon as possible if you think your puppy got flu.

maltese_-dog_cold

I’d like to share how to treat your puppy when it gets flu.

Best way to fight back to flu is to eat and rest well.

Here are good dog foods for flu:

  1. How Pear Cider – pear is also good for human cold. If it is too hard to make hot pear cider, chop a pear in tiny pieces, mix them with honey, and put it in the microwave oven for couple minutes.
  2. High Protein Foods – boiled egg yolk can be the easiest high protein food that you can feed your sick puppy. But try not to feed too much to avoid diarrhea.

Here are some tips to treat symptoms:

  1. Cough – best way to treat cough is to keep humidity. You may put humidifier or even wet towel in the room to keep it humid. However, if your puppy coughs for so long, more than a week, you should take it to the vet for either kennel cough or , in worst case, canine distemper.
  2. Snot – clean it with wet tissue (baby tissue) frequently in gentle manner. If snot has turned into yellow, that means it is getting worse, so you should take your puppy to the vet when you see yellow snot on nose.
  3. Sleep – gently remove sleep on both eyes with eye drops and wet tissue. Do not use your fingers to remove sleeps since your hands may cause bacterial infection. Also, do not forget to keep eye area dry. You may use hair dryer.
  4. Fever – check his nose. If it is dry, he has fever. Keep it warm and humid. Do not forget to provide enough water.
  5. Loss of Appetite – provide high protein foods. The best way to feed high protein food is to mix with regular dog food to prevent imbalanced diet.
  6. Lethargy – Good rest is always the best treatment for lethargy. Also, having play time with your puppy can help him recover from lethargy.

How to Take Care of Puppy with Tear Stain

bichon_frise_tear_stain_ringo

I have a beautiful Bichon Frise girl named Ringo meaning an apple in Japanese.

She has beautiful big eyes, pearly white curly coat, and very cute personality.

Everything sound perfect!

However, only problem with her is tear stain all over her face.

maltese_girl_momo

Tear stain is usually seen with those puppies with white coat and big eyes mostly – white Poodle, Maltese, Bichon Frise, and etc.

There are many causes, but the most important cause is its own pigmentation.

Those puppies with tear pigmentation are likely to have darker tear stain.

Tear stain is also caused by bacterial colonization on wet area around eyes.

5 most affecting factors in tear stain are:

  1. Stress
  2. Intensive exercise/hotness
  3. Food allergy
  4. foreign materials – dusts, eye lashes
  5. Ear infection

bichon_frise_girl_viviana

The best way to avoid or treat tear stain is to dry wet hair well.

However, it is almost impossible that we dry our puppies eyes all day.

So here are some tips that will weaken or prevent tear stains.

  1. Applying baby power directly to wet area
  2. Feeding tear stain medicine (ex. Sparkle Eyes)
  3. Operation – lacrimal canaliculus

bichon_frise_girl_ella

I know it is not easy once your dog get tear stain.

But never give up and bring his/her pretty clean face back!!

We go together!!
